CAPSA Software

Each of 20 executable core programs is stand-alone in the sense that no interface is required to run a program. The first time a program is run it creates a core case file with the same prefix name and an .sss extension. The .sss file contains the data of the example and the results of the computation. For example, the program zbus.exe calculates a core bus impedance matrix and 3-phase short circuit currents for a 3 bus network. It creates a result in zbus.sss. After the program is executed the first time, the file zbus.sss contains the data of the network, the bus impedance matrix, and short circuit currents calculated at each bus of the network. If a user modifies the zbus.sss file, the next time the program zbus.exe is executed, the new data is used as input. The user may save their modified file under any name for future use. The following 16 executables are in capsa.zip:

dc_flow.exe and dc_area.exe calculate simplified power flow on lossless networks and areas zabczpn.exe, z012zabc.exe, yabcy012.exe perform abc to/from 012 symmetrical component transformations l_param.exe, c_param.exe calculate transmission line parameters from geometry factors specified by the user zbus.exe computes the bus impedance matrix and SHORT CIRCUIT CURRENTS for positive or zero sequence networks p_flow.exe, v_flow.exe are N-R power flow programs for networks. Accept pi-lines, transformers, FACTS phase shifters econ.exe and ecnr.exe are economic dispatch programs to compute minimum cost operating point for as many as 9 generators rei.exe is an REI network reduction program. It is used to compute the 'B' matrix loss coefficients for generators and ties. ucomt.exe is a <=4 unit commitment for the least accumulated cost in 8 time intervals, on/off costs, incremental cost, constraints, etc. stat_est.exe is a State Estimator that accepts mixed sets of measurements of bus power injections and line power flows to compute the best state of voltage and phase angle at all buses. adv_se.exe accepts off-nominal transformers and voltage measurements. Program snap_ed.exe corrupts measurements with Gaussian noise.

The CAPSA included interface, Software.ppt can run all software. A windows-type interface CAPSA_GUI.exe is also provided.
